Set in the Northern French countryside, Bruno Dumont's film centers around the life of Freddy, an underschooled and chronically unemployed 20-year-old who suffers from occasional epileptic fits; his friends; and his supermarket-cashier girlfriend, Marie. Freddy's life changes when a handsome, employed foreigner moves into town and pursues Marie.
