Freelance News Writing |

City Paper, the only Philadelphia publication that matters, is looking for freelancers for its news and features section. Specifically, we're seeking journalists and writers who understand the difference between the fact-finding mission of daily newspapers and longer-form, magazine-style journalism, who are eager to stir things up and committed to making a difference, and who know how to thoroughly report and compellingly write the kinds of stories that have made City Paper a must-read for nearly 30 years. Basically, we're looking for ass-kickers. (Please note and this cannot be overstated if you long to wrote poetry or fiction, or to write stories about how your boyfriend's band is totally going to be the next big thing, that's great, but this is not your gig.)
If you think this is you, please send an e-mail to news editor Jeffrey C. Billman at jeffrey.billman@citypaper.net, with a resume, contact information and any clips you may have. If you're just starting out, that's fine, too. Just give us an idea of you're looking to write about. We pay competitively, or at least as competitively as any alternative newspaper does these days. Our rates are negotiable, depending on the nature of the stories you pursue. And no, unfortunately, we don't have any full-time staff positions open. E-mails only. Callers will be shot. |
