The Giant Squid
by Squid Inc.
Running Time: 78 minutes
part of Fringe

CP Review:

Normally, saying that the best thing about a play, or anything for that matter, was the use of an overhead projector would be a bad thing. For The Giant Squid, the semi-sequel to last year's Jersey Devil, it's a compliment. Mixing screwball comedy, inventive props and some sprinklings of Eldrich horror, Squid is full of life and exciting performances. The comedy succeeds, except for a extremely regrettable SNL reference, but the horror feels a little tacked on. Good performances from the cast, though, keep Team Broom's (think Team Zissou from Life Aquatic) unquenchable need to further science by finding the elusive giant squid interesting and entertaining.

I agree, I think I laughed the hardest at the overhead projector. I think I might have missed every other line of this show because I was too busy laughing at the one before it. I really loved how this had the same "feel" as the Jersey Devil (which was also great) but really built upon and the cast and crew used their resources so well. I can't wait for the 3rd part of the trilogy!
