Hawthornes

738 S. 11th St.
215-627-3012

Cafe/Coffeeshop, Bar/Pub, Food & Farmers Markets, Italian Market/Bella Vista/Washington

Chris Fetfatzes, whose family runs Bella Vista Beer Distributors at 755 S. 11th, debuted this beer lover's café across the street, in BVBD’s original digs. A joint venture with girlfriend Heather Annechiarico, Hawthornes is part bottle shop (more than 1,000 picks for your mix-a-six needs), part café (panini, grilled cheese, cheese plates, salads, etc.) and part bruncherie (served 8 to 3 Friday to Sunday). Perhaps the coolest feature in the space (BVBD's original home) is a custom gizmo that allows Fetfatzes to pressure-fill 64-ounce growlers (above) with hard-to-find craft beers — think choices from cult-following breweries like Russian River and Lost Abbey. Open Mon.-Thu., 11 a.m.-11 p.m.; Fri.-Sat., 8 a.m.-11 p.m.; Sun., 8 a.m.-6 p.m.

  • Average entree $10 - $20
  • Wheelchair accessible
  • Takeout menu
  • Brunch served
  • Vegetarian options
  • Liquor license

Comments

unfortunately, hawthornes has priced their beer to match the foodery's prices. i also was hoping for some competition, not price fixing. i really enjoyed their food, beer selection and fireplace, but i will not pay their single bottle or growler prices.
