Celebration Philadelphia

“These photographs are from a body of work on festivals in Philadelphia. In these images I want to give a creative and energetic interpretation to the unfolding human activities, to communicate a sense of playfulness and joy in celebration. In my work I am constructing my own response to the city and I would welcome the opportunity to expand these themes and develop this work into an exhibition.

“I am a visual artist based in the UK. I am trained as a photographer and an animator, and in addition I work as a freelance illustrator and as a lecturer in Media, at my local art school, in Colchester, Essex. My passion for photography is in photojournalism. As a creative wedding photographer, I favour a contemporary reportage approach to my work. My style is relaxed and modern and and I like to capture all those unusual and unique moments that make up the day. When in Philadelphia I team up with a production company, The Big Picture Alliance in Center City, to work on video and animation projects with at-risk inner-city youth. My photographs have been exhibited at The Royal Photographic Society in Bath, UK and all my photographic work is available to purchase as individual hand-finished prints.

"Your comments, viewpoints and enquiries are welcome."

Technical: “This work comprises black and white, colour and digital imagery shot on a 35mm Nikon F90X slr camera and using a Nikon Coolpix 950 digital camera. I am an experienced black and white printer and appreciate the contrast and sharpness of Ilford Delta 100 and 400 asa film. My colour work is shot on Kodak slide film 100/200 asa and Fuji Superia 800 speed print film.”
