Exposure: Sabina Louise Pierce

Philadelphia photojournalist Sabina Pierce is under contract with the Associated Press. Past clients include The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Christian Science Monitor and The Los Angeles Times. Her work also has been published in Newsweek, Time, People, Vanity Fair, Germany's Glick and Australia's Good Weekend Magazine. Sabina graduated with a B.A. in Photojournalism from Temple University in 1993. While in her senior year at Temple she received the prestigious Kay Kiegelbaum Award for photojournalistic excellence. For the past two years she has been documenting the activities of the Philadelphia Police Department in hopes of publishing them in a book. These photos are currently on exhibit in City Hall (second floor, near the mayor’s office) to commemorate Nation Police Memorial Month. Frugal Framers, 13th and Pine streets, donated its services for the exhibition. The photos are available for sale, and a portion of the proceeds will go to the Philadelphia Police Foundation. Technical: The photographs were shot on Kodak TMax film 100 ISO day, and 400 ISO night, pushed one stop at night. Everything at night was shot at 125th, 5.6. The bicycle was done with rear sync flash to show the movement. Chess game was 30th, 5.6, no flash.
