Frank Turner has never had an honesty problem. He's kind of an open book, always on the road, his heart so firmly affixed on his sleeve that it's starting to fray. Once the former singer of English hardcore band Million Dead, Turner's thick London accent has since felt more at home flanked with the jangling keys and acoustic guitars supplied by his backing band, the Sleeping Souls. His latest record, Tape Deck Heart (Interscope), lacks a little bit of the thematic grandeur of England Keep My Bones; still, these songs are tight and play to his strengths (choruses that hang around for days, unwavering sincerity, etc.). "Four Simple Words" is a marathon of a song, with Turner proudly waving his Freddie Mercury fanboy flag before launching into a full-on catharsis manifesto. Those four simple words are "I want to dance," by the way. He'll probably play it, and there will be dancing.
