Giants to Plax: Just Kidding About That Whole “we don’t need you” Thing

In the wake of their miserable defeat at the hands the mighty Philadelphia Eagles (wow, if this Birds team gets the hardware Philly is going to become intorerable, aren’t we? God I can’t wait) the New York Football Giants have turned face on their silence in regards to Plax Burress.
Jerry Reese, the Giants’ GM, talked to the New York Daily News about the subject after the game:
Giants GM Jerry Reese admitted Sunday that the Giants were a different team without Plaxico Burress. He also said that Burress “absolutely” could return to the Giants next season.

“Obviously it’s hard to replace that,” the GM said. “The guy has a presence out there and when you lose that, teams play you differently. Your margin of error is way less when you don’t have a guy with that kind of presence out there. Your margin for errors goes way down so you have to capitalize on every opportunity you have.”
Since the Giants suspended Burress for the season they lost four out of their last five, games in which Eli completed only 54% of his passes and found the end zone just twice.
The problem, of course, is working out an arrangement with the NY penal league. Burress is facing a felony gun charge, and seeing as Mayor Bloomberg has already vowed to toss the book at Plax (unlike Dom Hixon, he’ll probably catch it) the chances of him getting back in the league next year don’t look great.
