The Silver Lining in the Flyers Injury Clouds

No one wants to see injuries in sports, they jeopardizes a man’s livelihood and a team’s production as well as clarify the sad fact that something so many of us see as entertainment is real, and carries real repercussions.
Still, good can be found in every bad situation, and the Flyers recent string of injuries is no exception. Not only has it given a few of the younger players a real shot to contribute, but it also has given a couple of thus-far career minor leaguers their moment in the sun.
Scott Munroe, the Flyers’ replacement goaltender, is that minor leaguer. This is the third career call up for the 26-year-old, but he is still looking for his first NHL action.
His local paper, the Moose Jaw Times Herald (no joke) reports on the situation and traces his roots back to their town.
Moose Jaw’s Scott Munroe is once again a few feet away from making his National Hockey League debut.

After playing midget with the Moose Jaw AAA Warriors, Munroe moved on to the SJHL’s Notre Dame Hounds where he was named the league’s Most Outstanding Goaltender in 2001-02 as he set a single-season record for lowest goals against average.

Both veteran Flyers goalies – Biron and Niittymaki – will see their contracts expire at the end of next season. … “We’ll just see and hopefully my chance comes soon.”
As a Flyers have you have to hope that he isn’t too prominently involved in their season moving forward, but as a fan of sport it would be nice to see Munroe get his shot. All of Moose Jaw is in his corner.
