The Yankees, in a Desperate Attempt to Steal the Phillies’ Championship, set to buy all of major league baseball

The Yankees, apparently not content having blazed through $420 million dollars, have apparently set their sights on convincing Manny to be Manny in pinstripes for the next three years.
This sketchy foreign website reports:
Aunque el gerente general de los Yanquis, Brian Cashman ha desestimado un primer reporte de que firmará por tres años y 75 milones de dólares a Manny Ramírez, la fuente de Impactodeportivo.com.do ratificó este lunes en la tarde que el negocio va.
Now my Spanish is even worse than my English [insert token "like that is possible" joke here], but I’m pretty sure Franklin Mirabel just told me that the Yankees have inked their forth big prize of the off-season. I was down on their first three (Sabathia just threw like 600 innings, Teixeria is an excellent role player, and AJ Burnett is every-bit the injury-prone number 3 starter they make him out to be) but unless you want to play the ’stop spending money you morons!’ card it is kinda hard to fault them on this one. Manny is the unquestioned best hitter on the market, and a A-Rod, Ramirez, Teixeria 3-4-5 is the best in the game for as long as it stays together.
Plus it’s a real ‘fuck you’ to the Red Sox, which is always nice.

The Babelfish translation:
Although the general manager of the Yankees, Brian Cashman has misestimated a first report of which she will sign by three years and 75 milones of dollars to Manny Ramirez, the source of Impactodeportivo.com.do ratified east Monday in afternoon that the business goes.
Also, it’s like Cashman read this Onion article.
If this is true this is too much. Can the Yanks really sign every major free agent?
The title of the article, “Exclusiva y confirmado; Manny firmará por tres años y 75 millones con los Yanquis” translates to: “Exclusive and confirmed; Manny signed for three years and 75 million with the Yankees”
However, they have been wrong before!
This is the same bogus report that was out weeks ago from the same source (impactodeportivo.com). That citypaper.net would try and re-ignite this false report speak volumes.
First, the Phillies championship is set in stone (and gold) for 2008; the Jerks, I mean, Yanks can not take that away.
Second, if the article is true then the new Yanks Stadium becomes the circus it deserves to be.
Unfortunately, the 26 World Championships the Yankees own are very much “set in stone” as well!
TWENTY-SIX.
Well, first of all, I hope this report turns out to be true in that we do sign Manny. However, with the abundance of corner outfielders, prices are going down. If the Yankees did sign Manny, he’d be used primarily for DH and maaaybe occasionally in right field. Therefore his price would go down to about $20 million.
I truly believe the Yankees are lurking in the background and have told Boras to inform them if Manny is close to signing with someone. Then they’ll come out of the woodwork the way they did with Teixeira.
Manny & A-Rod on the same team – oh Lord let it be true!
They’d still not be a lock vs us in the Series if we both got there. Remember, we would be able to DH Brett against CC, the ‘27 A’s would have trouble with Cole, and if Chase is healthy – we bring our own lumber.
Plus, with the Hawaiian, we would have an authentic major league center fielder …
But back to my original point – Manny & A-Rod – that’s gonna be a 3 Mile Island caliber meltdown.
If Hank Steinbrenner has all those toys and loses … whoooie
