Phillies Sold!
That’s right, Reading’s own Phillies have changed owners.
Change may be a popular buzzword these days, but Craig Stein insists there will be little of it regarding the Reading Phillies even though he is no longer the principal owner of the minor league ballclub.
Stein, who purchased the Reading franchise in 1986, quietly completed a sale of the majority portion of the club last week to the Philadelphia Phillies.
Stein retains a small portion of the club and has contractual rights to continue managing the franchise, which he and longtime general manager Chuck Domino transformed into one of the most successful in all the minor leagues over the past two decades.
