Charlie Manuel Day

Ken Mandel, giving the people what they want:
Charlie Manuel already had his day, when he managed the Phillies to a World Series championship.
Now, he’s going to have “Charlie Manuel Day,” as it will be proclaimed Saturday by J. Mikel Clements, the mayor of the town of Buena Vista, Va., where Manuel grew up.
At a banquet that night, the No. 32 Manuel wore at Parry McCluer High School will be retired, and a new LED sign declaring Buena Vista as the “home of Charlie Manuel, the Manager of the World Series Champion Philadelphia Phillies,” will be unveiled.
That sign will be placed at the entrance of the small Virginia town, which is identified by another sign on its outskirts as home to “6002 Happy Citizens — and 3 Old Grouches.”
I have to be in two different states this weekend, but I’m really tempted to try to squeeze in a third for this epic event.
As expected, Meech is all over this one.
