 Morning Rounds, December 1st

categories | Morning Rounds

So we take one
lousy long weekend off from the Sports
Complex
and Plaxico Burress decides to shoot himself in the leg with a concealed
weapon.  To make matters worse for me — and in not being able to make jokes, *I* am the real victim here — it turns out that
Plax is going to be charged with a felony for the entire incident.  Talk about bad luck — if I ever get hit with
a felony gun charge, I damn well better be able find a better target than my own
leg. Not that the incident effected the Birds’ week 14 opponents; the Giants rolled anyway.

On a similar note, some pretty relevant stuff happened in
these parts as well. Donovan and the
Birds decided to give Philly another week full of blind hope, the Sixers
decided that winning basketball games is for suckers, and Nova has looked nice
in their tune-ups.  Rather than ignore
all of this (and more!) we’re going to bring you a little something we’re
calling “Thanksgiving weekend rounds” (you try to be clever when you’re filled to the brim with tryptophan) later this morning.

Right now we’ll have a normal Monday set of rounds, but an
hour after this goes live we’ll have a weekend recap.  In these, instead of judging every article
written we’ll just be outlining the three best for each major sport.  Hopefully we’ll have phlogosphere rounds an
hour after that.  Until then, enjoy your
Monday and try not to look too hard at this:

“When we come into the office, as we call it, we go to work.” – Giants Center/Professional Football player Shaun O’Hara

Three lines on their world:

  1. Their star wideout shot himself in the leg and is being charged with a felony for it, and the Giants still handled their business

  2. Lane Kifflin is taking over at Tennessee, and it looks like his father is following him.
  3. and the Steelers handled New England, which should put a quick end to the “trade Brady” talks

Three lines on ours:

  1. The Sixers dropped their 4th straight, this time to Derrick Rose and the Bulls

  2. Penn St.’s Rose Bowl showdown with USC is all but official
  3. and Villanova took care of URI to win the Philly Hoop Group Classic

Phillies, Birds, Sixers, Flyers and what everybody is talking about, after the jump
