In the 2nd quarter the Birds drove down the field, running the ball like they were the Giants. I was out raking and listening and Merle & Mike started to get into the game. Wow! a run, another run... Mike didn't say it exactly, but you could hear him thinking "a man's game!"

Then came a critical 3rd and short. Merle gave the incomplete a half hearted call and Quick muted his "what the @$%*"

A team that KNOWS it cannot make a 3rd and short is not going to make trip to Tampa gang.

This team is too mysterious, I'm movin on. I'll root for the Jets (which, after this last off season, is like rootin for the Joker in a Batman movie) - or maybe the Cards - and swing my attention over to the Sixers and Donte Christmas and Fran's Owls.

This is a great list. Makes sense, and even adds some good points that aren't talked about enough. I have 2 comments, though. One, technically Tom Heckert is the GM, although we all know that Andy has final say (which he obviously shouldn't). Second -- and more important -- is a point made by Bowen or Cosell or Didinger (can't remember who), which is the best and most simple analysis of McNabb i've read. Running the West Coast offense, and using the pass like most teams use the run, our QB has to have a high completion %. So you're right that McNabb throws for lots of yards and has a mediocre at best YPA (18th in the league) but those numbers aren't as important. In our offense, even if he were averaging only 6 YPA, as long as he's completing a high %, we'd be fine since the chains would be moving and we'd chew up a little more clock. McNabb's 59% completion, which is lower than Orton, Flacco, and even Ryan Fitzpatrick, is what kills the flow of our offense.
