Marty Mornhinweg thinks the Eagles owned the Bengals
![]() |
Last Sunday the Philadelphia Eagles played 5 full quarters of football and scored just 13 points. They had 19 possessions and 18 rushing attempts, and went a miserable 3-18 on third down. By any reasonable measure their offense was awful. Surely Eagles’ offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg couldn’t have been happy with the teams’ offense, right? RIGHT?!
Um, not so.
This little nugget, included in Bob Brookover’s notes column this morning, is worth being offended by:
Too predictable
Offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg dismissed a suggestion
by Cincinnati
cornerback Jonathan Joseph after Sunday’s game
that the Bengals knew what plays were coming against the Eagles.“How many yards did we throw for?” Mornhinweg asked.
The answer was 391 on 61 called pass plays.
“Yeah, I don’t think so,” Mornhinweg concluded.
Wow. First off that answer is wrong, the Birds had 323 passing yards, but more to the point, how could Mornhinweg possibly have the balls to cite passing yards on a week that his team couldn’t put up two touchdowns in five quarters? Is passing yards really the only stat the Birds’ offensive brass counts??
Unfuckingbelievable.
