Temple Football Pulling Out the Stops to Attract Fans

categories | The WORLD SERIES, fans, football, promotions

The Temple Football team, sitting on a lard-luck 3-7 record and heading into a Saturday game against Eastern Michigan at the Linc, is doing everything they can to fill up the Eagles’ stadium this weekend.

Before the game, fans will have opportunities to take photos of the World Series trophy, which will be on display in the Headhouse Plaza.

There also will be the “Take a Kid to the Game” promotion. Any adult purchasing a regularly priced adult ticket may purchase one child’s ticket for just $5. Plus, any fan who brings to the game a canned food item, which will benefit local homeless shelters, will be able to purchase a game ticket for just $5.

I hope this works; Not only should this Temple team have a couple more wins than they do, but Head Coach Al Golden has been a tireless recruiter and is getting closer and closer to making the Owls and real, live football team.

My only question is: just the trophy?  I thought Cole Hamels‘ PR tour came with it these days.

These Temple kids deserve a lot better.

Glad the Owls pulled it out today and I hope that they get some kind of crowd next week for the few Seniors on the club — those guys have really been great student athletes. Wins (a few more would have been great, but what can you do) and losses don’t really matter so much, I know that those kids will represent the school well. Golden has done a great job with this team in terms of making them community oriented. They have done a lot over the last 3 years to help with local and national charities and they do a lot in the North Philly neighborhoods too. The performance on the field is light years better than it was just a couple of years ago and the trend is up. Philly should get behind Temple.
