Week 10 Thursday Pick
categories | NFL picks
Alright, this is really it for today …
CLEVELAND (-3) over Denver
First why this pick is crazy …
- Rookie (Brady Quinn is still a rookie in my book) QB getting
his first start at home (actually harder than on the roads because you can feel
the expectations) - The Brandon McDonald / Brandon Marshall matchup. Mark
Clayton burned McDonald bad last week, which shows that he’s not particularly
good. This week he’s either going to be overcompensating by pressing the 6′4″ wideout
hard, or sagging off him. Either way,
look for Marshall
to have a big game and for him to get his TD drought over with. - Turmoil in Cleveland. The media is killing Romeo Crennel for switching QBs and the receivers are getting a lot of heat – both locally and nationally. Simply put: there are distractions.
Why it’ll still pan out …
- Champ Bailey was the only guy who was stopping receivers and
he’s out, and the Broncos are going to have to put eight in the box to offset
their lack of girth up front – it’s such good matchup for Jamal Lewis that
Denver is going to have to overcompensate. - Shaun Rogers is a big problem for the zone-blocking Broncos.
He’s too big and too quick. Look for him
to abuse the Denver
interior lineman. Combine that with the fact that every relevant Denver RB is on the shelf and it could be a long day for Cutler and co. - Braylon Edwards loves the spotlight. Look for him to drop less than three passes
tonight.
