When Will Game Five End?
Now that the whole “Bud Selig can’t read a weather report” incident is behind us (kinda, I’m still bitter) it’s time to look forward and figure out when the Rays are going to break our fair city’s heart.
Official reports are coming out as saying that, weather permitting, the game is scheduled for tonight at 8 pm. I was in the room when they made the call, and those reports are wrong. The younger Allan Huber Selig said that sometime today his office will make an official announcement of when the game is to be scheduled. Timing is not a holdup: “we’ll celebrate Thanksgiving here if we have to” he joked (I hope it was a joke). I think the combination of the bad weather, the bad press MLB is getting, and the need to give the fans a heads up is going to mean one thing:
Sometime in the next couple hours we’re going to hear an announcement informing us that game five will resume tomorrow after Barack Obama’s national message. If we don’t hear anything soon, expect a baseball game Thursday.
Updates as they emerge.
