After successful NLCS, NLDS, and regular season predictatrons we’re back and better than ever, ready to find out once and for all who will win the World Series.
The only two people to guess Phils in five last time out were Brian Howard and tofoomeister (who also successfully predicted that Brad Lidge would save three games, so +1 there). Yours truly was the only person who picked Cole as the MVP.
Rules are simple: pick the winner, the number of game it’ll take them to win, and the MVP of the series. If you get them all you’ll your name in lights, an invite to write a guest post write here on the championship, and hopefully your own parade. If you get it wrong we hope you at least went down swinging for the Phils.
The Daily News staff picks are HERE
ESPN’s are HERE
and we’ll provide links to ours as soon as they’re ready to go.
You’re up:

phils in 7.
mvp to victorino.
I’m a convert, Phillies in 6. MVP is Howard
Sweep – Phils
Jimmy – with all 5 tools
A tip of the hat to the D Rays, but it’s about to strike midnight on their Cinderella story
Phils in 5. Burrel MVP (shot in the dark).
Phils in 5. I think they lose game 2 with Myers getting shelled, but then come back and sweep in Philly. I thought the MVP of the NLCS shoulda been shared between Hamels and Lidge, so this time around i’ll say that they’re co-MVPs of the world series.
Phils in 5. Hamels MVP.
Same as BH — Phils in 5, Hamels MVP.
Thanks for the props! Phils go down 2-1 before climbing back to 3-2, then taking it in 7 when the Phils’ bullpen proves that they are the best in the business. Lidge will be used in five games, but will only pick up one save. J-Roll gets the MVP nod with an OBP over .420 (get it?) six stolen bases, and two homers.
wow, hell of a prediction. If you get all that we’ll toss a beer into the deluxe winners’ package
Thanks. Actually I’m already rooting against my own prediction… I’ll be at game 3. If what I said comes true, that means Moyer/the Phils will lose that game. WTF!
But I stand by my Lidge prediction: he will close at least two games where the Phils are winning but are in a non-save situation, and will also be put into one or two games where the Phils aren’t winning. Lidge has been too big a story this whole season… WS history usually revolves around the ‘unsung heroes’. The Matt Stairs of the world, if you will.
Four hours until HAMMER TIME!
Phils in six.
Carols Ruiz is named the World Series MVP. The entire world is shocked by this turn of events save Darren Daulton, who smiles to himself up in the stands and says “Well, my work here is done.” A guy standing next to Dutch says “Your work? You didn’t do anything!” Daulton says “Didn’t I?” and beams away.
Rays in 7.
Two great teams going at it. Both know how to win.
Rays are a team of destiny. Plus their pitching is better.
Phils in six!
phils in 6. Cole wins 2, Myers wins 2. Garza wins in Philly but doesn’t get to game 7. MVP: Cole
