Morning Rounds, October 21st
The intro turned into a rant, so expect thoughts on Gillick
v. Moneyball this morning. As for this
space: it looks like the Rays will be throwing Victor Zambrano Scott Kazmir
against Cole Hamels in game one, which gives the Fightins another chance to
take down a Met. Expect big things. If you’re saving some money by making the trip down there (the tickets, the airfare, and the hotel combined are cheaper than watching the game here – which tells you just about everything you need to know about the respective fans) be loud, and if you have fun insights from Tampa feel free to send them along.

“It’s a funny kind of month, October. For the really keen… fan it’s when you discover that your wife left you in May.” ~Denis Norden
Three lines on their world:
- The Patriots absolutely destroyed the Broncos
- The 49ers axed their coach
- And (because there is no way we bring this up once the Series starts) the richest event in sports is happening this weekend
Three lines on ours:
- It looks like it’ll be Scott Kazmir throwing to Jimmy Rollins to start the Fall Classic
- The Phillies arrive at the Trop
- And the Birds are healthy and ready to play
Phillies, Birds, Sixers, Flyers and what everybody is talking about, after the jump
