Morning Rounds, October 16th
You know how before you leave your home you do that quick check to make sure you have everything you’re going to need for the day – keys, wallet, cell phone … and we’re good - well, that is kinda how I felt this morning. Waking up on too little sleep I jumped up and checked just to make sure I remembered everything right – the Phillies did play, Hamels did pitch, and yup, it was the fourth win of the series … and the Phillies won the pennant. It isn’t a bad feeling. Now, lets hope that the no one forgot the dictaphone/injury report as the Phils head out to Boston or Tampa.

“This is going to be the year. I can feel it.”- Charlie Manuel
Three lines on their world:
- Philadelphia is front and center today: the Phillies won pennant
- Boston and Tampa Bay continue to battle tonight, all for the right to face the Phils
- and it’s looking like Brett Favre may have convinced Tony Romo to risk his career by playing through a broken bone in a game against one of the five worst teams in the national football league, which may be the perfect storm of douchebaggery. Normally I never pull for an injury – even a mild one, and even for someone on the Cowboys – but if Romo ruins his career doing something like this against someone like the Rams? Well, I won’t be losing any sleep over it.
Three lines on ours:
- The Phillies are the National League Champions
- Cole Hamels won the NLCS MVP
- all of which means the team is headed to the World Series
Phillies, Birds, Sixers, Flyers and what everybody is talking about after the jump

Where's the best sledding hill in Philly? (1 Answer)

here’s my question: say the Rays clinch it tonight, what do the Phils do with their rotation? do we keep everything as is, and go with what got us here (as I think Uncle Chuck will probably do)? or do we switch some things up?
for example, what about Blanton pitching game 3 instead of Moyer to set him up for a possible game 7? Although i did make the case to you that Moyer would probably be more effective against the Rays (young, free-swinging team) than he was against Milwaukee or LA. or, given Myers’ awful road splits and Moyer’s awful home splits, do we consider throwing Moyer game 2 at the Trop, then having Myers pitch at home in game 3? sounds crazy, but otherwise we’d most likely be looking at 2 potential Myers road starts (games 2 and 6) and 1 Moyer home start (game 3 or 4). that’s a little scary to me.
I was thinking about the same thing re: Myers and home/road. I kind of want to agree with that, but I think it might really be over thinking. I think you need to throw Myers as soon as you can and trust your guys to get it done.
Besides, you do want to break up Moyer and Hamels in the rotation if posible. Plenty to discuss, that is for sure.
