1993 Remembered: It’s The Fightins’ Yo
In the next few days I fully intend of writing something up pleading for a stop to all the ridiculous comparisons between the 1993 Phils and 2008 editions. I’ll save the details for the rant, but the 93 team couldn’t be more different from the 2008 edition, both on and off the field.
That said, this is an excellent time to remember and
appreciate the last Phillies team to make the Series, so in the first installment
of what we hope is a daily feature – right up to next Wednesday – we’re
bringing you Remembering 1993 -
where we observe, analyze, and generally celebrate the last Phillies team to make the
World Series. The first example will be
this siiiiiiiiick video that ‘Duk turned up earlier today, from a group that calls themselves “The Jesters of the Court.”
From the barnyard backdrop, to the absurd rhymes (rhyming “Stocker”
with “Redenbacher” deserves some sort of budget award, and pronto), to the guy playing the
keyboard with a bat, it’s pretty much the pretty much the greatest video ever.
“It’s the Fightins’ yo, the Fightins’ yo, said the fight fight fighting Phils … break it down”
