The 76ers Will Make You Cry
![]() |
We’ve been focused on the Phillies and the Birds recently – and probably rightly so – but we’d be remiss not to point out that the Sixers season is starting up (the Flyers too, if you’re into that kind of thing) and season previews are popping up left and right. IMO, the best of these so far comes from Yahoo’s excellent Ball Don’t Lie. After The Basketball Jones’ J.E. Skeets looks at what the Sixers did this offseason Kelly Dwyer takes over and offers his usual spot-on analysis:
Think about that delayed transition game. Brand is a beast at running the floor, teams are overplaying his right hand while asking their power forward to front him as Brand moves to the middle of the paint on the fast break, calling for the ball. Meanwhile, while Miller runs up court, you have Sam Dalembert, Andre Iguodala, Thaddeus Young, Willie Green, Theo Ratliff, Marreese Speights, all running and waiting to throw down while the defense focuses on EB.
This team is going to make people cry.
Got me excited – and he didn’t even have to mention any of my four favorite Sixer-related people: Kareem Rush, Royal Ivey, Theo Ratliff and Coach Aaron McKie.
