 Dreaming about the Phils

categories | Phillies, other people's thoughts

Most of my writing about sports is done by gchat, email, or text messaging. Normally, that stuff doesn’t make it on here because it’s either

  1. irrelevant, no one cares about my fantasy football teaml
  2. overkill – I can only write so much about how awful the Mets are in any one forum; or
  3. really offensive. I’m representing CP here.

There are however, exceptions. Earlier today my buddy DRex just sent me an email that ATJ, I’ll be posting in its entirety. The email was a rundown of two Phillies-related dreams he had last night.

Some background: DRex (his real name) is a St. Louis native and through-and-through Cardinals fan. What he is not, however, is a baseball player. Not now, not ever. Keep that in mind when you read the story …

1) I dreamed that it was the the 8th inning and for some reason, they brought me in to pitch relief. There were 2 men on, and the Phils were up by 1. I walked the batter in 4 pitches. I then got taken out and the next pitcher gave up the lead. Hamels was really pissed that I lost him the win. I spoke to you after the game and you said, “Well he should be pissed. You can’t get one fucking guy out? You suck.” I said, “Well why in the hell was I even pitching? I don’t know how to fucking pitch.”

This is, I might add, precisely the way both parties would have reacted. And I still maintain that dream James was right.

2) After I woke up and went back to sleep I dreamed that the Phillies were playing the Cubs at home and that when Ruiz threw to third to catch a stealing DeRosa, the ball went into the outfield and DeRosa scored. The crowd in left field erupted into a huge brawl between Cubs and Phillies fans, and ended up spilling onto the field. After the Philly fans were finished with the fans, they went after the Cubs themselves. I think they even killed some Cubs relief pitchers. The umps called the game for the Cubs. It sucked.

Congrats, DRex, you’re a blouthor.

One Response to “Dreaming about the Phils”

Hey, is that the DRex who boxed at the Blue Horizon?

And is that the Beale who was in his entourage?
