How else to explain this Cole Hamels quote, given to Bob Nightengale of USA Today. When asked if the team feared Manny Ramirez Hamels responded:
“Check out the numbers,” says Phillies ace Cole Hamels, who will start Game 1. “I think we did pretty good.”
That’d be a solid no. Hamels, of course, has the chance to back up his words tomorrow night when he takes the ball in the more recent in a what we hope to be a long line of “biggest games of his life.” If he does handle Manny and the Dodgers he will have set the tone for the series. Want to talk about Manny? Fine, we’ll talk, and “we’re better” will be the quote. Should be a fun one.
