Morning Rounds, October 7th
Every year there are only two scheduled days where none of the four major sports are played – the day before and after the MLB All Star game. For a sports junkie, this means that there is always something on, always something to watch. Well, today is the exception: because all four division series wrapped up early, for the next two days the world will sit back and wait for the Phillies, the Dodgers, and the NHL regular season to bring us back to normalcy. This may be a good thing – I may sleep, for instance – but from where I’m sitting it does not feel that way.
At least we had a few great games yesterday to hold us over.

The sports page records people’s accomplishments; The front page nothing but their failures. – Earl Warren
Three lines on their world:
- The Boston Red Sox are headed back to the ALCS
- where they’ll face the Tampa Bay Rays
- and the Saints wasted 269 all purpose yards from Reggie Bush
Three lines on ours:
- The Phillies rest up and prepare for the Dodgers
- Who do the same for the Phils
- and Brian Westbrook has two broken rips, and will be hampered by them for the forseeable future
