The Return of Floyd Landis
One of pro cycling’s highest profile dopers is
coming back to action (and no, not THIS ONE either, this news is far more breaking). That’s right, the mustachioed bad-boy of bikes, Lancaster’s
own Floyd Landis, is set to make a return from his two year suspension – the powers
that be put the one-time Tour de France champion on the chilling list for
doping.

I was always totally offended by his original
suspension – and not because of Landis’ ludacris claim that he
was clean and was victimized by an anti-doping system he says is rigged against athletes either. To cyclists, doping is like breathing. It’s practically a prerequisite to their sport. I think about it this way:
artificially inflated RBC:Cyclists::Height:Basketball players.
Telling cyclists not to dope is like telling NFL Players ‘no groupies!‘ – sure, the heart of the
lecture may be in the right place but when push comes to shove they’re all
going to ignore you and that one guy who gets caught is just going to end up bitter and embarrass your sport on a national stage.
Anyway, he’s back and in negotiations to compete
for – no joke – the Tour de Missouri crown.
