Last Call Rounds
The Mets are up big already (6-0 in the first), which means
the Phillies have to win. Fortunately,
higher powers (am I allowed to type ‘god’ when talking about sports, or Kurt
Warner territory reserved solely for athletes following a win? Catch me up
here) seem to want this NL East to come down to the last weekend, so the Phils
will probably will to keep pace.
It is Joe Blanton (1-0, 3.92) who gets the pleasure of
defeating Nationals lefty/one-time prospect Odalis Perez (6-10, 4.14)
tonight, and I imagine him giddy.
- Jimmy Rollins is heating up, hitting and even .500 over his
last eight games - Joe Blanton has received two straight ND’s despite posting a
2.31 ERA - Washington
was shut out for the 20th time of the season last night, which is
like 45 more than the next-worst team

Oh c’mon Meech, that’s just mean.
Eagles
The 700 continues a series that I’ve been
enjoying a lot: why the reason’s the birds can’t win the superbowl are wrong.
Iggles blog points out that St. Louis doesn’t care about football – which
makes their whole (now-defunct) “we’re real fans” forum posting (in response to
fan rankings which had them 29th) all the more hilarious. Sorry Rams’ fans, you don’t exist.
Ask (sic) if he worried this could become a distraction
similar to the Terrell Owens follies of 2005 (also co-starring Rosenhaus),
Sheppard said: “If it does, it does.”
Dammit, the Rosenhaus situation is about to be a bitch.
