Hawthornes up for Nov. 18 opening
Chris Fetfatzes, whose fam owns and operates Bella Vista Beer Distributors (755 S. 11th St.), just touched base with Meal Ticket to share that he and girlfriend Heather Annechiaricos will debut their 38-seat beer café Hawthornes on Wednesday, Nov. 18. The place is named after the neighborhood and located at 738 S. 11th, the original home of BVBD before it moved across the street in the fall of 2008.
Beer-wise, Fetfatzes says they’re going to carry around 1,000 different brews for a mix-a-sixes, along with a setup for 16 beers available in 64-ounce pressure-filled growlers — “typically, what you can’t get in bottles” (meaning harder-to-find one-offs from breweries). If you fill up a growler slowly off a traditional tap, Fetfatzes explains, oxygen begins tampering with taste almost immediately, so this system will preserve carbonation and sanctity.
For food, they’ll offer lunch, brunch and prepared foods — think cheese plates, panini, grilled cheeses, soups, and house-roasted meats. There are also plans for free movie nights on Wednesdays and monthly beer dinners. And here’s a good touch for the season — there’s now a real wood-burning fireplace right where the soda room used to be.

[...] Go read for the details (that wood-burning fireplace makes me all tingly, it does). [...]
damn, that sounds rad. movie nights are a great call, possibly aliens vs plenador or blue velvet?
