More details on Varga Bar at 10th and Spruce

Late April or early May — that’s the latest word on the forthcoming Spruce Street outpost from restaurateur George Anni and chef R. Evan Turney, the minds behind Valanni and Mercato.
Named and purportedly themed after famed pin-up photographer Alberto Vargas, Varga Bar (941 Spruce St.) looks to compete with the nearby Tria in terms of craft beer prowess — they’ll carry 22 beers on tap, two of those on hand pumps, and the brew selection will include American, local and Belgian selections. (You’ll still be able to sip tequila and margaritas, as you were able to when the space was still Azul Cantina.) There’ll be a total of 62 seats inside, with room to accommodate 32 al fresco.
Turney’s pub menu will include eats like steak frites with bernaise sauce, fish and chips and broiled flounder.
