Tonight is the opening reception of NEXUS' new exhibit, "Gifted Hands." A collaboration between the Coalition Ingenu Self-Taught Artists Collective and the JFK Mental Health Center, it will feature artwork created by people with histories of mental illness, drug abuse, physical disabilities and/or homelessness. The program that helps these people create art is lovely — it provides all the art supplies, and offers an encouraging space for folks who are mostly self-taught — so come out if you'd like to support 'em.
Thu., July 7, 6-9 p.m., free, NEXUS Foundation For Today’s Art, 1400 N. American Street, 215-684-1946, nexusphiladelphia.org.
