From the Department of BLAME THE VICTIM

Bookmark and Share

Dear Richard M. Sarkisian of Sicklerville,

I read your letter in Philly Mag regarding Brian Hickey causing his own hit and run accident even though he was the one who got hit, not the one who did the hitting or the running.

Just wondering: Are you fucking kidding me?

Sincerely,
Patrick Rapa

Hickey's response on Philly Blunt is even more to the point.

A quick google search and you will find that his students at Camden Community College believe he’s a waste of space.

I’m not a judge of too-the-point-edness, but here’s what I emailed him a few minutes back:

Mr. Sarkisian,
I’ve always thought a decade of covering crime in Philadelphia and Atlantic City had exposed me to the lowest forms of life I would ever have the misfortune of encountering. Your letter proved me wrong.
Posturing as if you know anything about me, or what happened the night I got struck, proved that you are beyond ignorant and classless. Lucky for you, though, that the First Amendment even applies to intellectual maggots.

There’s a prof that doesn’t know how to read.

I have to agree with the Professor. Mr. Hickey was totally wrong. Of course, no one today wants to take responsibility for making bad choices. It’s much easier to blame someone else.

In a society where everyone thinks only about themselves it’s understandable you all would blame only the driver.

By all means, Doreen, go on. I’d love to know how a driver isn’t responsible for hitting someone and fleeing the scene when he/she a) hit someone and b) fled the scene.
Sincerely,
The Guy Who Got Hit
