Last night, in the middle (around the 2 minute mark) of a segment on Kim Jong Il's latest missile threat, the Daily Show host took the opportunity to take a swing at Philadelphians, saying, basically, that we're all assholes. Why does this fill me douchey irrational rage?

Jon Stewart’s a Mets fan. Of course he’s bitter and angry towards Philadelphia. His team has totally sucked the past few years and they’re no better this year.
… but he’s also right, we tend to be pretty rude. In fact, I was treated nicer in New York City than here. What are the odds?
Don’t worry, Pat. Jonny Boy’s fame is just about expired. The laughs just don’t seem to be coming as easily now that the Decider’s been shipped back to Texas.
One year and he’s back to doing nothing but watch the Mets choke over, and over, and over again. Like the asshole he is.
That’s because you are assholes.
What’s that make the Mets? Shit-holes?
New Yorkers would have been better.
What happened to the jerk who called us assholes?
That’s what I love about guys like him and Bill O’Reilly. They sit up there on the TV and make remarks that no one can rebut because they have the mic, and think they’re cute, and they want to call us assholes?
These replies basically prove his point. “How dare he calls us jerks! He sucks!”
How about this: Instead… ignore him? I

Like I said before, Jon Stewart is a bitter Mets fan.
I was at a Mets-Phillies game in May at the Bank, and as I walked through the concourse, a Phillies fan called a Mets fan a “f&*$ing f%#got.” Maybe there’s a reason why Stewart called out Angrydelphians…and I’m a Phillies fan from PA (but not Philly).
oops! did we forget, Philly, that we ARRRRE assholes? and proud of it! we throw batteries at Santa Claus, we kill each other with reckless abandon, and any dumb motherfucking out-of-towner stupid enough to make a remark like this anywhere REMOTELY near our city knows what they can expect.
I stopped watching the daily show when Kilborn quit, anyway.

Guys, calm down. He does not think everyone in Philadelphia is an asshole. It was a joke. That is what he does. Make jokes. Look at the expression on his face. And lighten up.
Well, that’s a relief.
Does anyone in Philly really disagree that the city has an abnormally high asshole count? come on.

Yeah, you’re right. Those type of philly fans definitely are a-holes.
Stewart is a diehard Mets fan. Of course he thinks ill of Philadelphia. He’s sad and evidently, unobjective and angry.
Wow that was passive-aggressive. I don’t need to be self-hating and agree with him, New York is the king of assholes.. ask the rest of the world.
“a Phillies fan called a Mets fan a “f&*$ing f%#got.— Maybe that was Jon (WTF?) hisself.
Eugene, besides fetching sandwiches for the other s-holes, what is it you do there in that s-hole?
If you could, please tell Jon (?) for me, that, as far as “being an a-hole in Philadelphia,” he’d be a s-hole, and an a-hole from a s-hole, in Chicago. No offense to any Cubs or White Sox fans.
I see that the Yankees and Mets just had a series. What a conglomeration of s-holes that must have been.
Maybe Eugene was the architect/engineer of that new s-hole the Yankees play in.
wow, philly really must suck if you people get this worked over this shit. You sure as hell must be ruder than new york and I hear you’re fatter too.

Please don’t misunderstand. We’re all big fans of Yon. In fact, a bunch of us a-holes might take a bus trip, with outside assistance, of course, and come up to that s-hole for some autographs.
Umm… It was a joke? Get the fuck over it? This just proves his point. End of story.
wow…. Kentucky must really fucking suck if you’re reading a message board from a philly paper. Carry on living vicariously through us fat assholes, backwoods schmuck.
I think we’re now fat, ugly, not obsessed with our sports teams a-holes. That was a joke? From the expression on his face, it looks like he just realized how large a s-hole he is. Correct me if I’m wrong, but did we just take two straight from the Mets? There are too few sweeter things in life. They’re like doormats, and Mike, you sound like a s-hole yourself. Being a s-hole from Kentucky, and telling us to get the fuck over it, maybe you could just go eat some horse shit.
Sweep. Don’t worry, Yon. We, being not overly obsessed with our sports teams, aren’t that excited about beating a team of s-holes. The Mets are historically strong finishers, so keep the faith. S-hole.
I have lived in many US cities over the course of 40 years. I have to say that I have ran into more a-holes in Philadelphia then anywhere else I have ever lived. I did time in South Philadelphia, Old Town, and the NE. I was so glad when I finally got the hell out of that city.
Troll! It’s a Trap!
