Philadelphia Film Market party tomorrow night at Yards
From the good people who bring you the Philadelphia Independent Film Festival (Shaun Brady told you about their first outing last year), comes the Philadelphia Film Market, where indie filmmakers can bring their masterpieces in front of the hungry eyes of industry suits.
The Market itself will bring film people of all kinds together for one big networking getdown. Need a producer? Here's the place to find one. Have a completed film and want to show it off to potential distributors? Buy a slot and get the projector rolling.
The official announcement party is tomorrow night at Yards Brewing Co. (901 N. Delaware Ave.). All are welcome to attend, cineaste or not. Expect some speeches from Market organizers and Greater Philadelphia Film Office head honcho Sharon Pinkenson. Main man Michael Nutter may also make an appearance, although his taste in movies is suspect.
The Market itself takes place from June 22-28, with the second half the fest going double time with the PIFF. As Director of PR Matt Godfrey pointed out, there is only one other major film market in the U.S. — the American Film Market, which happens in November on the other side of the country. And, as Godfrey and Pinkenson have said, the Market is simply another step forward for Philly in the film world.
