Clemente Cleanup a Hit

Just received an e-mail from Sara Hirschler, she of the Fairmount is Fun/Celebrate Clemente project aimed at cleaning up and restoring Clemente Park in the Spring Garden neighborhood. Sara was featured in an Editor's Letter a few weeks ago detailing the genesis of the project and what she, Kimberly Neff and a small band of kickball players-turned-community-minded activists in the neighborhood were trying to do for the park which is a neighborhood icon less for its role in the opening credits of The Fresh Prince of Bel Air and more for its long-held status as something of a neglected eyesore.
Our fundraiser was a success! We raised $1500 and that's not including the St. Stephen's bar tab proceeds (which we are still waiting to hear back about).
Our clean up was amazing! The place looks great and I'd say at least 75 people came out that day---from all walks of life and backgrounds, representative of the whole community.
The next project meeting is Mon., April 13 , 6:30 p.m. at the Clemente Park rec center at 18th and Wallace where preparations for the April 18 work day will take place. Projects for the work day include painting the inside of the rec center, creating park signs and painting the fence surrounding the park.

Where's the best sledding hill in Philly? (1 Answer)

Thank you for noting my dance move. Try not to be too taken aback by the beauty.
But of course. It’s a good shot, one that says, “cleaning is fun”
