Looks like JL Sullivan's Speakeasy, the McFadden's-backed concept that took over the old Zanzibar Blue back in May, wasn't gaining much traction in its original form. The space is being rebranded — kinda — as just JL Sullivan's. Staffers say the concept, interior and menu aren't changing, save for a few seasonal tweaks to the food. This Saturday, Paper Street's throwing a grand reopening party hosted by Playboy Playmate Hiromi Oshima. (The invite calls the space JLS.)
This leaves but one speakeasy-branded spot in the city: Betty's Speakeasy, Liz Begosh's combo sweet stand/farm table/CSA pickup on Grays Ferry. It should be opening this month.
