Yards beer at the DNC

At a DNC event tonight called "A Taste of America's Cities"  hosted by Democratic mayors, Yards Philadelphia Pale Ale will be repping Philadelphia with the usual suspects: soft pretzels and cheesesteaks.

Word on the street is that Mayor Nutter's office contacted Yards' Tom Kehoe to provide the only Philly beverage at the event.

But really, soft pretzels and cheesesteaks? Couldn't we have maybe, I don't know, sent our IRON CHEF?

LOL… Typical Philadelphia fashion to use a beer that isn’t produced in Philadelphia to represent us. I bet they also sent some Kraft “Philadelphia Style” cream cheese to go with that.

What are you talking about? Yards is brewed in the city.

Sorry to brake the news to you B.D.Wrong but Philadelphia Pale Ale is actually Wilkes Barre Pale Ale and has been for almost a year. Yards brewery became Philadelphia Brewing and Yards went to upstate PA. Brewed and Bottled in Wilkes Barre on the label should be your first hint. Thanks Brian for informing us about City Hall’s continued incompetence. I really had hopes for the Nutter administration but I guess they can’t get it all right.

Uhh, you guys realize that the Wilkes-Barre brewing situation is temporary, right? Yards is only brewing there until their facility on Delaware Ave is ready, which they’ve been working on ALL YEAR. PPA was invented in Philadelphia (hence the name), brewed in Philadelphia, and will again be brewed in Philadelphia after the brief stint in WB as a result of the Yards/PBC split.

To Mayor Nutter I say kudos: no one in Denver would know what the holy hell a Kenzinger is, and Philly Pale Ale is a better beer anyway.

The Yards sign is up on Delaware Ave and rumor has it that the water is being boiled in the kettles now,and production is set to go on line again within the next couple of days. So, Brother P, stop picking on Brian.

Hey, the Yards sign is up on Delaware Ave. The brewery guys are in the place whenever I ride my bike by there and so are the brewing tanks. Rumor has it that the water is boiling and the brew is set to go in the next week. Brother P, stop spreading other people’s propaganda. Its really really old. Lets be happy there are lots of great breweries in the City and in the vicinity. Yards, (Flying Fish, PBC, Victory, Nodding Head, Sly Fox etc..) And heres Cheers for more to come…

well said, BeerLady.

I rode by there tonight, popped my head in the door and smelled the beer! Yards indeed has begun to make beer. So, Brother P, you should stop by 901 N. Delaware Ave and see for yorself and don’t listen to other people’s rumour mongering.
