Privé (246 Market St.), the 150-seat Mediterranean tapas restaurant from cousins Nick and Billy Lavdas and chef Peter Karapanagiotis, is set to open on or around Monday, Aug. 25. (We first mentioned it here.)

Details, a menu preview and more photos after the jump.

The two-story space (formerly Bluezette) in drenched in buckets of Old City sheen — the owners imported many design elements, including Italian bar stools and several tons of Chinese cut stone for the first-floor walls. Shot above is of the second-story lounge area overlooking Market Street. Those draping white strands will be lit with LED lights from the bottom of the space for dramatic effect. Shots to the right are of a moody dining area on the second story, which features a spot-lit Bisazza mosaic mural. One more slick feature: Privé's servers are currently being trained on a wireless Palm Pilot system that relays orders in real time to the kitchen. Sorry, pen and pad.

Karapanagiotis, who's cooked at Buddakan and Brasserie Perrier, has created a menu big on Greek influences, with nods to other pitstops around the Mediterranean. Some highlights:

  • White Truffle-Infused Hummus
  • Beef Short Rib Stuffed Peppers, Orzo Pasta, San Marzano Tomato & Rosemary Jus
  • Chicken Spanakopita: Crisp Fillo, Spinach, Leeks, Chantilly Sauce
  • Lollipop Lamb Chops, Tomato Confit, Lamb Thyme Jus
  • Surf & Turf Souvlaki: U-10 Scallops, Hereford Beef Tenderloin, Sage Juice
  • Trio Balcento: 3 Jumbo Lump Crab Shots, Avocado-Cucumber, Bloody Mary, Mango Mojito
  • Sword on a Sword: Herbed Swordfish Skewers, Mediterranean Germolata
  • Octopus Duet: Panzanella Salad, Chickpea Ragu, Traditional Garnish
  • Lobster Bricks: Butternut Squash, Bacon, Spinach, Lobster Ash
  • Braised Calamari: Deviled Tomato Compote, Shaved Kasseri
  • Bruschetta: Tomato Concassé, Jumbo Lump Crab
