10-Track Mind: Not many know this, but I’m big into French rap
Every week, we have a staffer, freelancer or friend/enemy/frienemy of The Clog put their iTunes or iPod on shuffle and tell us about the first 10 songs that come up. The only rules: No skipping, no cheating and you don’t need to be all music critic-y about it. (If you’d like to submit a 10-Track Mind of your own, contact Drew Lazor at drew.lazor[at]citypaper[dot]net.) This week, Foobooz.com's Arthur Etchells cooks up a spicy musical goulash.

1. Clem Snide – "Moment In the Sun" (The Ghost of Fashion)
I have a lot of reservations about doing this list as I have lots of weird and indefensible things on my iPod. My iPod once randomly played Wham Rap and Crying Game back to back. This song is about hating on Jewel. That's something I can get behind. Maybe this won't be so bad.

2. Depeche Mode – "Just Can't Get Enough"
Sometimes you just can't get enough Depeche Mode. I blame my Depeche Mode phase on all-you-can-drink nights at the Bank.

3.Hole – "Dying" (Celebrity Skin)
I don't blame Courtney Love for Kurt Cobain's death. For God's sake Kurt wrote a song, "I Hate Myself and Want to Die." I remember watching Hole at a sweltering Tweeter Center. I definitely have a soft spot for chicks who rock.

4. Roy Orbison – "Crying"
I still say that if someone wants a sure hit they'd remake this song. I also like the Spanish version by Rebekah del Rio. Just a great sad song.

5. The Beastie Boys – "Sabotage" (Ill Communication)
OK, so far I've managed not to be horribly embarrassed by my iPod. 5 to go.

6. MC Solaar – "Solaar Pleure"
Not many know this, but I'm big into French rap.

7. The Roots & Mercedes Martinez – "Unwritten" (Rising Down)
Not my favorite track from the newest album but certainly legit.

8. Black Landlord – "Mind Over Matter" (Munf Ta Munf Lease)
Two straight Philly acts. What are the odds? Maxx once gave me a shout out at a concert. I thought I was going to faint.

9. Detroit Cobras – "Bye Bye Baby" (Live, Love and Leaving)
MySpace isn't just for sexual predators, occasionally you are introduced to music you'd otherwise never hear.

10. Kimya Dawson – "Tire Swing" (Juno Soundtrack)
It's always special when a movie soundtrack actually has good music. I think Juno fits that bill.
