Awhile back, we uncovered The Daily Clog — a blog run by Cal's The Daily Californian — but have neglected to give it its proper due on this here Clog until now. Contributor Danica Li gave us a shout way back in April, and it's high time we return the favor.
The Daily Clog "accumulates various tidbits about Berkeley and college life," with a focus on "the UC campus, the city of Berkeley and Berkeley’s online community." In other words, they eat healthier and are way better at water sports than us.
Oh, and to address the question you posed back then:
Did our predecessors ever have a debate about the relative merits of “clog” as a noun, versus “clog” as a verb? Because waddaya know, the Philadelphia Clog totally has a more charming header than us.
"We spent a lot of time trying to come up with something 'really Philly' ... I know we tossed around some scrapple pun," says CP senior editor Patrick Rapa, a member of the braintrust that developed the Clog name. [Ed: I don't think you guys have scrapple.] "Clog came up at at least partly because of City Paper's love for a good portmanteau. Like that two-headed monster on Sesame Street, we enjoying putting sounds together: CP Blog = Clog."
"The verb/noun thing came up," he adds. "Both seemed to conjure up equally unappealing mental images, and we liked that."

It’s about time.
And here I thought it was just a reference to Dutch footwear. *Weeps.
