Those crazy Pumpkin kids are opening a produce market

Pumpkin's Ian Moroney and Hillary Bor are about a month away from opening a produce shop at 1610 South, right across the street from their Pumpkin Market. It will be called ... Pumpkin Market. What is currently Pumpkin Market will be renamed Pumpkin Café. (Sorry if this is confusing.)

They'll work with the Fair Food Farmstand to stock the space — around the same size as their coffee/takeout shop — with fresh produce, meat and dairy products from within a 150-mile radius of Philly. The only exceptions will be made in the winter, when they'll outsource things like citrus fruits. As much organic stuff as possible, Moroney says. It will most likely be open six days a week.

Moroney will now be able to buy ingredients for the BYO and the café from himself — so convenient. "I should probably be more preachy about 'local this, local that,'" says the chef, "but the reality is, when all is said and done, this shit is just so much better."

Look for the market to open its doors somewhere between August 1 and August 15.
