In the house music game, there are few music makers and DJs who loom as large as Mark Farina. Chicago-born and San Francisco-bred, Farina practically built the downtempo music sound with his own two hands (or ears), turning OM into a formidable electro-jazz label and dropping spacey, soulful classics like Air Farina.

He's made 2008 a wild house ride thus far with records like To Do/Soundtrack to the Soul, Imperial Dub, Vol. 1 and the 40th edition of the treasured Fabric mix compilation series — and he's sneaking in a few Philly gigs this weekend. While many of you may know that he'll join Paperstreet's Mojito boat dance jawn on the Moshulu July 12, Farina also just jumped aboard Vango's Sundance Sunday outdoor-indoor party on the roof deck with DJ Brendan BringEm for July 13.

But it's a secret. Don't tell anybody.
