Oh, now you’re doing it on purpose.

This time it's the Inky's resident sports poet Bill Lyon who missed the call along with the refs in last night's Flyers win over the Habs:

The Flyers' Steve Downie swoops in on Montreal goalie Carey Price, who has strayed from the crease and is all alone in the open, a deer halfway across the interstate. Goalies are not fair game, no matter how far they roam. But Downie cannot resist. He aims for the goalie's legs and, using his stick like an oversized spatula, he flips Price.

Now, this was a tough one to catch, so it's hard to blame Lyon. Really I just want to point out how awesome it is that a Flyers fan put together this Warren Commission-esque clip (with a Dio/Sabbath soundtrack):

You had me at “Dio”!
Excellent coverage of a horrendous call.

So I guess this was a bad call, along with the other one (Downie/Kovalev) you mentioned. Granting that, I still have to ask why are Flyer fans so whiny? How can the refs be simultaneously incompetent and sharp enough to consistently stick to the orange-and-black?

Leon Stickle probably still has to use an alias if he comes through Philly.
