The Arbol Cafe Question: Don’t think we haven’t noticed.

As both the food editor and the Web editor here at CP, I've been paying close attention to the glut of comments pouring in lately regarding the tipping policy at Northern Liberties' Arbol Café. And it looks like many others have picked up on it, as well, from local forums and message boards to national blogs like The Consumerist.
While I fully support the use of our site for public discussion, it is my opinion that many of the comments on this issue reflect an unfamiliarity with the straight facts in play here. With this in mind, I want to announce that we have two items forthcoming that anyone who's weighed in on this issue absolutely needs to read:
- a formal explanation of Arbol Café's policies from co-owner Beth Acuna;
- a formal analysis of the legality of Arbol's policies from practicing attorney and CP contributor David Snyder, who you also know from the blog PhilaFoodie.
I want to make it very clear that City Paper does not wish to take sides. But quite simply, this discussion suffers from a dangerous lack of straight-up factual information — and that is what will help all of us form a mature opinion of the issue at hand.
Stay tuned. Thanks.

[...] So we were glad to see this post from supersleuth Drew Lazor, promising the real story along with the full legalese from our favorite food-loving attorney PhilaFoodie. We are so looking forward to someone actually reporting on this story. We know you’re a famous Food Network star now, but what took you so long, buddy? [...]
