Wave goodbye to The Waverly
We've been hearing bits and pieces about The Waverly, a richly appointed restaurant set for April opening from Michael O'Halloran, the same guy who brought you Bistro 7.
The space (412-426 S. 13th St.) was gonna have lots of brick dark woods and leather and a few fireplaces to make it comfy and cozy.
It was gonna serve venison sirloin and Moroccan-spiced lamb tagine broiled under goat cheese-black pepper gnocchi.
It was gonna be nice.
"Gonna," because at present, there isn't a The Waverly.
That's f'd up, since April starts today and surely O'Halloran's staff bought more than a few logs.
"Due to differences with the landlord to the property, the opening of our second restaurant has been postponed," O'Halloran wrote to me moments ago. "The matter has been turned over to our lawyers, who have initiated litigation over this matter. We are now actively looking for a new location for our second restaurant, where we will serve our modern-classic dishes in a casual atmosphere. If anyone knows of a great space for a restaurant — we'd love to hear from you."
I will. I really wanted that venison, yo.

[...] Yesterday we spoke to O’Halloran, who also chef-owns Bistro 7 in Old City, and he confirmed that there were unspecified issues with the landlord. Lawyers are involved and The Clog has the full legalese, if you’re inclined to read it. [...]
Good-bye, it was just too confusing to me and the Waverly in NYC. I wrote about that place today on my blog http://www.ConfessionsofaPapaparazzi.com
Can we call it something else please?
