Tapping into the Tap Room
SPTR builds on the classic model: a casually delivered combination of basic sandwiches, fried items and relatively exotic animal parts, with an emphasis on the latter.

Kanella flies you all the way to Cyprus.
Kanella is a fresh, fantastic addition to the local BYO lineup. For one thing, there's no other kitchen serving this food — the cuisine of Cyprus is an unmistakable amalgam of Greek and Turkish influences augmented by notes from France, Italy, Lebanon and elsewhere — in the region.

A new café offers Turkish charm in coffeehouse form.
Are these the beginnings of some kind of local Ottoman restaurant empire? Fine by me.

From grub to booze, this Kensington taproom is doing it right.
This is an old-school corner bar reinvigorated with all the right touches: vintage lighting fixtures, artisan ironwork, a set of taps spouting 11 affordable craft beers, accessible yet interesting eats. Even the ketchup slides out easy.

Simple flavors drive this modest West Philly eatery.
We came to West Philly's Soleil de Minuit specifically because it offered Malian cuisine (the only such restaurant in Philly that I know of).
