Harvest Festival at Reading Terminal Market

RTM is turning a city block into a farm for its annual Harvest Festival. Celebrate the arrival of that autumn chill with a cornucopia of activities. Pumpkins, hay and corn stalks will line Filbert Street, which'll also boast an on-site hay ride for kiddies and adults alike. Bloktoberfest
Sat., Oct. 24, noon-8 p.m., free admission

What do you get when you cross a block party and October? Bloktoberfest, of course! This one-day fest is bringing food, drink and live music to Christian Street. Eats will be provided by food carts — Denise's Soul Food will serve Caribbean delights and Honest Tom's will dish up yummy tacos, while cupcakes will come from Flying Monkey. And there'll be plenty of beer — expect selections like Bell's Kalamazoo Stout, Blue Point Blueberry Ale, Flying Dog Snake Dog IPA, Lancaster Milk Stout and Sly Fox Pikeland Pils. Dish It Up!
Thu., Oct. 29, 6-9 p.m., $60

A fundraiser for local nonprofit Women Against Abuse, Dish It Up! will feature the talents of numerous female chefs and owners, including Jennifer Carroll (10 Arts), Ane Ormaechea (Café Apamate), Catherine Lee and Luciana Spurio (Le Virt), Moon Krapugthong (MangoMoon/Chabaa Thai) and Lynn Marie Rinaldi (Paradiso). The women will be completing for the first-ever Purple Dish Award, crafting plates that highlight the color of the anti-abuse movement. (Judges include City Paper food editor Drew Lazor.) Glenlivet Scotch/Steak Dinner AT Union Trust
Thu., Oct. 29, 7 p.m., $125

Steak and scotch aren't typically part of your average weeknight dinner, so why not treat yourself? Rick Crawford, Glenlivet ambassador, will provide numerous scotches, including a 15-year-old French Oak Reserve during a reception, and a 21-year-old Archive and 16-year-old Nadurra over a three-course meal (raw bar selections, special cuts of lamb and steak and a chocolate dessert). Mountain Meadow fundraiser at Trolley Car Diner
Oct. 26-Nov. 1, weekdays 7 a.m.-9 p.m., weekends 3-9 p.m.

Mountain Meadow is a local organization that provides a wide array of programming for the children of LBGTQ families. Starting Monday, eat at Trolley Car and they'll donate 15 percent of the proceeds to Mountain Meadow. (Make sure to ask for a voucher upon paying.)
