You have to figure the original medieval allegory didn't include angels farting into trumpets or knights who say "Nee." Thu., Oct. 2, 7 p.m., $8.50.

THE BALCONY The Trocadero, 1003 Arch St., 215-922-LIVE, thetroc.com. Beerfest (2006, U.S., 110 min.) Brothers Jan and Todd Wolfhouse form a crack team of beer-guzzlers to avenge the reputation of their dead grandfather (Donald Sutherland!) and take on their German enemies at Oktoberfest. Post-screening, try to refrain from chugging a beer from a huge glass boot. It's messy. From the Broken Lizard boys, of Super Trooper fame. Mon., Sept. 29, 7:30 p.m., $3 includes drink or snack.

THE BRIDGE 40th and Walnut streets, 215-386-3300, thebridgecinema.com. Sesame Street: Abby in Wonderland (2007, U.S.) Sesame Street resident Abby Cadabby replaces Alice as she falls down the rabbit hole in search of her magic wand. Sun. and Tue., Sept. 28 and 30, 10 a.m., $3.50.

COLONIAL THEATRE 227 Bridge St., Phoenixville, 610-917-1228, thecolonialtheatre.com. Way Out West (1937, U.S, 65 min.) The Colonial begins their children's matinee series with the originators of the buddy comedy: Laurel and Hardy. Stan and Ollie are charged with delivering the deed of a gold mine to the deceased owner's daughter. Hijinks ensue. Screened with the shorts Brats and Hog Wild. Sat., Sept. 27, 2 p.m., $4-$6. Freaks (1932, U.S, 64 min.) In his cult classic, Tod Browning used actual sideshow freaks (like the Bird Girl) to flesh out the story of a glamour-queen trapeze artist and her bodybuilding beau who conspire to kill a midget to reap his inheritance. Screening preceded by The Mystery of the Leaping Fish, an early Browning short featuring Douglas Fairbanks. Sun., Sept. 28, 2 p.m., $4-$6.

INTERNATIONAL HOUSE 3701 Chestnut St. , 267-765-9700, ihousephilly.org. The Garden of Earthly Delights (2004, Poland, 103 min.) A woman is obsessed with Hieronymus Bosch's painting, which gives the film its title. Based on director Lech Majewski's novel Metaphysics. He will be at the screening. Thu., Sept. 25, 7 p.m., $5-$7. Gospel According to Harry (1992, Poland, 88 min.) In a post-apocalyptic California, the only happy person is the tax collector, Harry (Viggo Mortensen). Fri., Sept. 26, 7 p.m., $5-$7. Angelus (2000, Poland, 103 min.) A commune sacrifices a virgin to save the world. Sat., Sept. 27, 5 p.m. Glass Lips (Blood of a Poet) (2007, Poland, 97 min.) Originally an installation at MoMa, the film recounts a poet's traumatic time spent in a insane asylum. Sat., Sept. 27, 7 p.m. I Can No Longer Hear the Guitar (J'entends Plus la Guitare) (1991, France, 98 min.) Director Philippe Garrel takes stock of his romantic and professional relationship with Velvet Underground member and all-around muse Nico. Wed., Oct. 1, 7 p.m., $5-$7.

When Jeffrey "The Dude" Lebowski gets mistaken for a millionaire with the same name, mobsters with a vendetta pee on his rug and he's subsequently ensnared in a complex kidnapping plot. In honor of the film's 10th anniversary, show up with a White Russian in hand, wear your favorite jelly sandals and remember: The Dude abides. Fri.-Sat., Sept. 26-27, 8 p.m.; Sun., Sept. 28, 7 p.m.; $6 includes popcorn.

Curator's Choice 2008: Unseen Corners of the Secret Cinema Archive Digging deep into the depths of their archive, the good folks at Secret Cinema are showing films that they have never screened before. Entries include military propaganda film You in Great Britain (1954), motivational film Coca Cola: Operation Tiger (approx. 1975), educational doc The Making of the President 1960 (1961), preschool primer Red Light, Green Light: Meeting Strangers (1969) and silent short Wild and Wooly (1924). Fri., Sept. 26, 8 p.m., $7.

PHILADELPHIA CITY INSTITUTE LIBRARY 1905 Locust St., 215-685-6621, freelibrary.org. The Third Miracle (1999, U.S., 119 min.) A priest who has lost his faith (Ed Harris) is sent by the Vatican to investigate the supposed miracles of a woman nominated for sainthood. Shown as part of a series of Monday matinees at the Free Library's Rittenhouse branch. Mon., Sept. 29, 2 p.m., free.

WOODEN SHOE BOOKS 508 S. Fifth St., 215-413-0999, woodenshoebooks.org. First Person (U.S.) Six students from Philly public high schools want to attend college. How many of them will realize their dream? Thu., Sept. 25, 7:30 p.m., free. Society of the Spectacle (1973, France, 88 min.) A pirated version of French political theorist Guy Debord's film, which incorporates imagery from films like Eisenstein's Battleship Potemkin and Nicholas Ray's Johnny Guitar. Over these clips is Debord's voiceover and between scenes there are intertitles using unattributed quotes by the likes of Machiavelli and Marx. Shown with two other Debord short films.
