Presenting works created from 1987 through 2008, this show is a mini-tour of the company's many styles. Its namesake choreographer is one of contemporary dance's more accessible and visceral dancemakers, and the corps is perennially top-of-the-line.

Among the most anticipated performances of the fall dance season, Israeli-based Inbal Pinto Co. presents Shaker, inspired by snow globes. It's a surreal, effervescent, ultra-visual dance/music/theater collage that's both beautiful and absurd.

Balanchine delights with Ballo della Regina, featuring many-patterned variations and spirited ballerina stylings. The showstopper of the Pennsylvania Ballet's season opener, however, is likely the joyful and comedic Push Comes to Shove, a seminal work by Twyla Tharp.

For its prior Philly outing, Rubberbandance presented a pastiche of works featuring the ensemble's distinct hybrid of hip-hop, contemporary dance and ballet where bravado and elegance receive equal time. Now comes the full-length Phase II, where those same dance elements — plus AV feeds — are employed to examine issues instigated by reality TV, celebrity and surveillance.

This top-tier Canadian company performs Amjad, a fantastical deconstruction of Swan Lake and Sleeping Beauty, replete with abstract versions of the famous musical scores, giant screen projections, plus intricate, multifaceted choreography.

The all-male Edgeworks stages The Determining Factor, where dance and social narrative explore issues relating to gender, race and spirituality.

A choreographer's choreographer, Varone is revered as a master of building and dissolving dance structures large and small. A full presentation of his work generally traverses many emotions, not the least of which is passion.

Koresh presents a doubleheader: Program A features Theater of Public Secrets, an imaginative theatrical probing of the complexity of private lives, while Program B offers selections from the vast KDC repertory.
