Your Zombie Costume is at the Dry Cleaners

If the Philly Zombie Crawl (p. 48) isn't quite your style, you can still celebrate Easter on South Street. Led by Halloween king Henri David, the annual Easter Sunday Promenade and Finery Contest honors festive Philadelphians with a march and costume showdown. Bonnets will be off to the snazziest in several categories, including Best Dressed Lady and Gent, Best Dressed Kiddies in Pink and Blue and Best Dressed Family. Even Fido gets his turn on the catwalk and the chance to win the coveted title of Best Dressed Pet. Prizes are donated by the South Street Headhouse District and include gift certificates and plenty of candy.

To accommodate all of the miscellaneous paraders, David added the Best South Street Lifestyle Expression category a few years ago. "It's for people expressing themselves that don't fit anywhere else," he says. "We have had drag queens, groups in one costume and even people dressed as Easter baskets." Sounds like a zombie invite to us.
